Were jack hole cover plugs ever standard on the W123 300 series?
I recently had someone admiring my 300CD and they asked me:
Have the jack holes always been open or were they originally fitted with plugs from M-B? A question I'd never been asked and never considered myself. Does anyone know if plugs for jack holes were ever standard on the 300Ds/300CDs? Thanks- |

They originally had black rubber plugs, shaped like mushrooms. They must still be available from the dealer.

Having bought several W123 cars new, the jack hole plugs were an option. I see them for sale on Ebay quite often.

I bought the ebay plugs and they are fine. Prior to that I used rubber corks from a big box hardware store.

I still have a few. If you need some, PM me. AFAIK, they were an option or dealer-purchase item for the 123s but standard for the 124s.

My 123s never had them but my 126 does. I have even seen chromed plastic ones. Mechanics have always told me to clean out the jack holes, throw in some grease or anti-seize, then put in the jack plug
