mismatched shocks ???

can wrong shocks put pressure on upper control arm bushings and lead them to squeak??
Someone at Pepboys has accidently put in Gabriel Shocks for 300E gasoline MB in my 300D turbo. And now both my upper control arm bushings squeak and also the car front seems to have dropped a bit lower. Any thoughts on if this could be the cause?

Thanks

MVK

Are the 300e and 300d the same 123 chassis? If so the shocks should be the same, unless ther is a consideration for weight of the different engines. I would lean towards the installation by Pep Boys. I got my tires there. Good tires , good price, but I walked around the corner just in time to see the mech beating on my hubcaps with a mallet. he had already broken two clips and was going for a third.
