All of my vacuum pods were leaking, removed them, now I want cowl (fresh) air into the fan blower (AC quit two years ago) but can't figure out how the cowl vent air gets into the heater box. I know the left side main air flap has to be open, by open I mean the white lever moved to the left position. The recirculate flap located above the fan blower -- what position will allow cowl vent air into the cabin?

That's easy to figure out if you have a good view of it (dash removed or glove box removed). If the flap is closed, you get fresh air, provided that you opened the left flap as you mentioned earlier. But if the flap is open and you can see inside the box, than you get cabin air.
