Does anyone know part # or size of this O-Ring?

On most 240D (W123) engines, there is an oil-air separator which has a nipple at the end which plugs into a drain tube. On that nipple, there is an "O" ring.

Does anyone know the part # for this O-ring? I looked on the forums and the 'tried-and-true' fiche from S.Atlanta MB and no dice.

I will post some pics tonight for clarity's sake.

Thanks in advance.

This might be one of those situations where the ' o ring pack ' at the local hardware store or Harbor Freight comes to the rescue... there are discussions in the archives for what material one would want to look for them being made from.

^^ that will be plan "B" ...

There is a tight clearance with the nipple with O-ring and the drain tube so shooting for the "right" O-ring as plan A. The original crumbled when removed.

Not using the OEM - original oil - air separator. Rather, went with the MANN-ProVent 200 unit and lucked out tremendously in removing the end piece, drilling out the hole a little, and fitting that nipple over the MANN's nipple unit and securing with epoxy. So, thinking would prefer to say with an OEM "O" ring solution.

Found this on the net. Red arrow points to the "O" ring location.

It sits on the passenger side of the engine, in front of the air filter housing.

Some 240Ds have them, others don't.

I believe the 82 model 240D was the first one to get it and the 83 also.
Bolts to the intake manifold.

Greg your 80 240D as mine only has the plastic tube between the VC and the intake manifold.
A simple always works piece of enginereing.

I'll give my usual advise and suggest a trip to your local Parker store. They'll have O-rings in various IDs, ODs, and materials. Mic the ID of the hole it goes into and take the mobile part with you and I'll wager they'll come up with a good fit and probably in silicone if you want it that way (I would). I use an aftermarket oil separator that I mounted on Mutt's firewall but it looks like the same idea.

I would do that ^^, but I do not think they have metric O-rings. We have a Parker store which is sort of near my home and a hydraulic shop which is a short jaunt. Prefer the exact O-ring / Part # as plan A. If it turns into a PITA, going with a 'close-enough' solution.
