Front sway bar on a 1984 300SD? HELP!!!
 

I just had my front sway bar break on me where it connects above the front wheels(rusted out). This is referred to in the Haynes manaul as the front stabilizer bar. It runs between the two fire walls and from side to side in the front and comes out and connects to the tie rods on both sides that go down to the steering. I took out everything that is between the firewalls(wow was that a job!!!) Too get the bar out I took my reciprocating saw and cut one of the ends off.....figured I would save time. Now the fun part....WHAT IS THE TRICK TO GETTING THE NEW ONE IN. I believe I need to take the firewall out that is on the engine side however the 2 AC lines that go through the firewall to the expansion valve(underneath the dash) seem to be in the way(I would hate to dump all my freon....134.....Oh ya I would definitely have a certified AC tech do that so none would hurt the ozone). And what about the fuse box? It seems to be in the way slightly.

Any help would or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

This post is a few years late but I replaced the sway bar. Took me about 10 hours but saved me $1k
Getting in the new one was some what of a puzzle but it eventually found its way in. My Dad just had a neighbor weld out some new ends....now why didnt I think of that?
