1984 300D top fuel filter bolt size?

Is it 23mm or 24mm?

24MM. I had to go out in the shop to refresh my mind too.
I was thinking it was 22mm.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.

I did not know if you were speaking of the thread size or the wrench you use.

I have used a adjustable/cresent wrench with no issues as it does not take much effort to remove or tighen the bolt.

Me too. I twist the filter until it's snug them turn it just enough to keep it from leaking.

The previous owner of my SD though tightening the bolt would stop the leaks. I noticed the leak when I first raised the hood with the engine running. O-rings stopped the leak.
