Door panel leather question

Looking for replacement REAR door panels.

Mine have shrunk at the window chrome trim.

Would early model leather grain match later models?

I know the dash grains vary but what about doors?

This is for a coupe

From my own research, and getting mine re-skinned in red leather shortly.

You have two general grain patterns: pebble and non-pebble grain (too many variances to list). Get your samples upfront.

Color: will have slight variations unless you buy from the same batch / lot so make sure you get all the material you want. Leather is pricey.

Costs: Pricey. Expect around $300 to $400 for the pro's to re-skin them (service only). Does not count the arm rests. And yes, you can re-skin arm rests.

here are my arm rests. I learned my lesson about buying all the leather at once. I may need to dye these to match the seats, however, the work is impeccable.

Thx greazzer

I found a set of blue rear panels from an earlier model year

They look to be on good condition

Same color but I guess the grain may be different? Any cut offs for smooth vs pebble?

Mine are the smooth

If you found MB originals but in nice condition, then you're set. I was referencing re-skinning with new material. The door panels are MB tex. I do not believe they ever came in leather. If I had to do it again, I would have purchased all leather at once, for the entire interior vs. this or that. However, it did save a bundle. The estimates I got for the entire package deal at once was over $12,000.00. However, scouting out bargains will get me under $5,000 for the entire interior, all quality leather, re-wrapped, et cet. So, just throwing out the pricing to give you a heads up as to costs and headaches which could come from going down this road.

Not sure if you've already taken care of this, but in case you're still looking for advice; I've attached a link to a tech article below. It also lists any parts that you may need. Best of luck!
