78 300D cooling and tranny question

hey guys i replaced my auxilary fan and the thermo switch on top of the thermostat housing about 1 week ago. When the car gets up to around 250F the aux fan kicked on but not for long...now it doesnt even turn on anymore when it reaches 250F...is there another place where i can troubleshoot to find the problem?....maybe a blown fuse or switch?

Also on the transmission...i have to keep switching back to low gears in order for the car not to slip between gears. my mechanic tried to adjust the pressure on the shifting last year and i guess he jacked it all up. if i put the tranny on D, it will slip like crazy...but if i drive it like a triptronic...from low to high then it seems fine, with smooth shifts. He told me that there are no vacuum modulators on this tranny (619) and that there are only nuts and bolt to adjust for pressure switching. can anyone elaborate on this? if there is someone in Golden, CO that can look at it to see whats up.....it would be worth a million dollars.

thanks guys
allan

Maybe you need a new filter and fluid. Get the crud out.

Do a search There is a way to adjust it.
