Part ID on OM617 intake manifold.
Hello all. Working on repairing the damaged vacuum system on my wife's 84 300TD and found a hose dangling near this fitting. The fitting had a hose clamp and some broken hose. The hose goes behind the battery and connects to a small hard line close to the hood hinge. Given that this is a turbo, could this be a vacuum port that closes under pressure? With a vacuum pump in this system, that would make no sense.
Any guidance is much appreciated.

Nothing goes there normally. It's a good place to tap in for a boost gauge, so that's probably what it went to at some point. What you do with it is up to you, although I would at least plug it for now since that's a decent boost leak. The only thing it would be good for is a boost gauge, since pressurized intake air is all that would ever come out of it.
