Is it ok to use a meyle water pump in an on603, or should I get one from the dealer?

200,000 no worry miles later, no problems. That kind of part, in my mind, is in the "vital to getting me home" category. Fix and forget is important & worth the budget hit. Also the last thing you want to do is overheat your nice low mile 603 motor.

M-B loves you guys. I don't think they make water pumps, just "brand" other's. You won't see many Chevy, Ford, Mopar guys going to the dealer for a water pump. I think the main thing is to buy one w/ cast impeller, instead of sheet metal. Might be some nylon impellers, which could be as good or better.

We know MB doesn't make the parts. The main idea is sometimes ya just want to make sure one is getting a very well made part where the extra savings are not worth the alternative. I'm recalling the pump is a Laso that can be purchased online from other vendors as well.

hmm, I just looked closer at the box and although it says meyle germany everywhere is says in fine print, "made in PR China". Sneaky. The quality does look decent though, and the impeller is cast aluminum. I would go with oe instead, but I already have the radiator out so it would make the job easier if I could do it now.. But its only leaking a tiny amount from the shaft seal, you can just see some dried antifreeze, no liquid comes out, i might just put it off a few more weeks and get an oe pump.
