Breather bracket problem

While checking my air breather I discovered that I had a hole about the size of a half dollar where one the rubber shock absorbers connect with the air breather:eek: so, that's where my oil drops could be coming from. To make matters worse the absorber had broken off flush with the breaker bracket  So my questions are: 1. Any ideas as to how to repair the hole in the breather and 2. How to remove/unscrew the bottom half of the absorber.

Short of going to a Pick-n-Pull for a replacement, you should be able to just form a metal patch repair that easily. I would use both adhesive rtv and pop rivets. Your not dealing with much weight.

Unless someone has "modified" the bracket or stripped the threads, the rubber shock absorbers should just unscrew from the mount bracket. When ordering replacement absorbers, get the heat shields as well. I believe they increase the life of them above the heat of the turbo.

One quick note: Do a valve adjustment to cut down on the vibration that caused this in the first place. If it has been awhile, or the date of the last one is unknown, it is even beneficial to do it twice, about 200-300mi. apart. You will be surprised at the difference.
