Draining Fuel Tank & Removal 92 300D?

How does one achieve this... Which line? I've searched around and couldn't find any info. Which line to drain? Also I know there's four bolts behind the panel in the trunk, is that all that's required for removal?

There's a hose above the right rear axle that goes straight down from the strainer fitting. There's a 30-40mm hex around the base of the strainer.

this might work for you

i drained my tank by transferring the fuel to the other car via the lift pump.

took an hour or so at idle. when the tank was empty, i put the fuel lines back, primed and done.

Why are you draining and removing the Tank ?

Cleaning ?
Leaks?
Slow weekend?

Don't forget:

That there is a "Vent" system (Hoses and Vent Valve)
That the "Fill Pipe and Hose" must be R+R-ed from the Tank.
That the Fuel Gauge Sender is tucked under the top of the Trunk opening.
(And youse Gotta unplug it at the least.)

AND,AND,AND Because of the design of the Tank Bottom (Inside) at the
"Fuel Sock" [internal gross fuel filter,Or Strainer] there is a circular dam around the
opening that will retain a certain amount of Diesel EVEN when you'd swear
the Tank is completely empty.
(In Plain Anglais be careful removing the [Now allegedly Empty]Tank from
the Trunk NOT to spill the remainder of the Diesel into the Trunk!)

I put an electric inline lift pump just before the injection pump and drained it in 5 minutes.

I disconnected both fuel lines in the engine compartment, blocked off the tank vent, attached a long hose to the supply side to a bucket and attached an air line to the "return" line and fed with 10 PSI from an air compressor. Took me about 10 mins to drain the tank (only had about 7 gals left in it).

The tank strainer has a 46mm (1 13/16") hex, the fuel lever sender also has the same 46 mm size hex.
