'95 E300D - Kickdown Switch Operation
What is the max RPM at which the accelerator pedal kick-down switch will downshift the transmission? In my car, using kick-down will downshift the tranny into third up to about 55-60 mph, or around 3K rpm. Above that, pressing down on the accelerator all the way does not engage third, though I can downshift manually into third.
I'm thinking this is not a problem with the downshift switch since it does work consistently up to the stated RPM. Are there adjustments on the trans or the accelerator linkage that need to be made to correct this, or is this just the way things are? Regards, Tom Closter, NJ |

Sounds like your bowden cable needs a bit of adjustment. There are some great write ups on how to adjust it. At idle I believe it needs to be just a tad slack but start engaging right away if I recall correctly.
