Diesel injection cleaner does not work as hydraulic fluid
Today I got out the Mitsubishi with my little 6' plow blade to clear my driveway and parking lot of 2" of fresh heavy snow.
After a few raises and lowering my plow went on strike. I went for some hydraulic oil and spotted a large black jug on my bench with no label. I opened it and poured out a bit and proclaimed it hyraulic oil. When i poured it into the pump it created some sort of chemical reaction and the muddy bubbly fluid started a small volcano of stuff expanding and overflowing the pump. I tried a couple more times with no luck and finally decided maybe it was not hydraulic oil after all. So I went back into the garage and spotted five feet from the injection cleaner the real hydraulic oil. So I filled it with that, purged it a few times and now the blade minds my bidding, coming up and down at the flick of the toggle. I then threw away the stuff with no label. After hassling with plow the actual plowing of snow was very satisfying.
