Show Us Your Car on the Track!
Fellow Pelicans
We thought that it would be great to see pictures of your cars outside of their normal routines - whether you track your Mercedes, take it on adventurous mountain roads, or simply on picturesque cruises to your favorite site, we want to see it! Show off your beaut and enjoy a picture of this station-wagon shredding the track. |

Much to my surprise I don't have any shots that I've taken of Mutt the Race Truck on the track as I'm the one behind the wheel. These are pictures of shots taken by David Whalen, our track photographer. He's excellent - notice that he's caught the action with Mutt at something like 125MPH in the shots shown. Sorry for the light strike on the first pic - it's in a frame behind glass and it reflected a bit. The second shot is us JUST coming across the finish line - David shoots from a stand and therefore can get nifty shots like this. Also note the record certificate with a top speed of 129.6083. Is this the fastest documented OM617 in North America? I don't really know that but he might be.
Next time we're at the track I'll try to get someone to take a shot from the rear as I leave the starting line. Then you can see the Mercedes Tri-Star in the middle of an otherwise stock S-10 tailgate. EDIT: I found a slightly better on-track pic taken at the finish line. A bit grainier than the pro shots but at least not a picture of a picture. See below. Dan Last edited by Dan Stokes; 02-05-2017 at 03:18 PM. |

Dan - thanks for posting - really impressive that you were able to almost 130mph in it. What made you throw that engine in the truck? I've never come across that swap before.
