Although the 'stretched' version of the 123 is often called a "limousine," it was typically used in taxi service, as an "airporter," sort of like the monster Checker used to build with four doors on each side.

The word " limousine" is used in German to mean a sedan-like vehicle with at least 4 doors.

A 4 door Yugo is also a " limousine."

Well really that's utterly disgusting!

Blatant use of the Y word on a Mercedes forum.

Where are the moderators?

I'd trade my hunk-a-junk w123 for a Yugo in a heart beat. After all, it's nearly the same what with four wheels, a roof and an engine.

Interesting that the paint on the doors doesn't match the rest of the body that we can see. I notice stuff like that.

Probably takes off slow, but must be a smooth ride on the highway w/ that long wheel-base and extra weight from beefing up the frame rails. Seems I saw interior photos of one recently (ebay or craigslist?), and some have a little pull-out table for the executive to work at.

There is one on ebay now (eBay item number:142270583673). Interesting, might be fun to have but probably not $7K worth of fun.

If I were to guess someone repainted the doors and just got the OEM color and didn't allow for fade. That probably was the original color (at one time)
Good catch...

Someone on this list was involved with the restoration of one. There was some discussion as to how the car was built up / how much hand work was involved to graft a 2 door rear to a 4 door front.

Chrysler made a limo K car using such technique and VW apparently made one from a Rabbit, Jetta or Golf.
