'98 E300TD fuel filter o-rings
Hi folks,
The Mann Filter secondary fuel filter came with 2 small o-rings, one smaller than the other. One of them obviously goes in a groove on the banjo bolt. Not so obvious where the other goes. The old filter I removed had a plastic piece that sat on top of the filter and had a rubber seal of sorts. The replacement didnt have that plastic gizmo. Any help appreciated. |

My primary fuel filter banjo bolt only takes one of the orings too. Not sure where the other one goes unless its for the prefilter (doesnt fit tho). The plastic seal at the top of the filter is necessary and should have come with the new filter. They are loose so it may have fallen off somewhere.

Some fuel filter bolts require two o-rings, you may not need both. I know that my '95 sedan with NA OM606 and my OM603 engine both need two O-rings.

Both my old w124 om603 and w210 turbo om606 share the same secondary filter.
The om603 has two o rings on the bolt and the w210 uses only the one. |

Some info from my sources at MBUSA: the second o ring is for use with banjo bolt p/n 601 070 05 46. That bolt has a bleeder or shut off valve incorporated into it...not used on w210 apparently.
The little plastic gizmo is for the older filter p/n 601 090 14 52. That filter p/n has been super ceded by 601 090 16 52. |
