Question Delivery Valves OM617 T. Engine

I've been reading the threads covering delivery valve service but not once do I see _where_ (links) to get the valve, spring and copper crush washers .

I have the devil of a time finding things in the Pelican OnLine catalog, when I typ in " delivery valve " it says : NO RESULTS .

Some hyperlinks to various suppliers would be *very* helpful !

In in the So. Cal. area and will travel to buy off the shelf if possible .

TIA,

I have 004-997-45-40-M14 bookmarked in the catalog on this site for the copper seals, but I've never been able to confirm that they're correct. I figured I would throw them in the next time I order something from here (which is rare anyway).

You pretty much have to find the part number and search that way to find little stuff like that.

Supposedly the copper crush washer is the same for *ALL* of the Mercedes IDI diesel engines. The M pumps on the 60x engines use an O-ring as well.

I make no claims about the compatibility of the part numbers listed in the link below with the 61x, but they are valid for the 60x engines. If the 61x engines use the same spring and washer, the part numbers and source are valid for them as well.

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/3676540-post26.html

This forum tends to block out hyperlinks to competitors (What are they trying to hide?), but Google is your friend to find the source and the part numbers are valid anywhere.

Thumbs up

I'm a decent mechanic but useless at finding things on the Internet .

I _know_ someone here reading this knows *exactly* what I need .

Knowledge is worthless unless it is shared .

Bosch diesel service center. They are better than the MB dealership. The plate on the side of the pump, get the numbers from it. Use the one that starts with a nine I believe. Its not the one that starts with 617. go to bosch.com and you can find a service center locally. If not try this one local to me. They were able to get my parts for the euro IP within days. Santa rosa Diesel 707 584 9743. It should be very easy. The only hiccup may be in describing the right part. Diagrams always help. If you had that then the part number would be there too.
Edit
There has to be like ten Bosch centers in your area. Go to one with the numbers off the pump. they will have the diagram there to look at. Choose your parts then return for pickup when they arrive. easy peasy.

I would call first to be sure they don't have the "old car syndrome". Most Bosch certified places would be happy to help. They can also be had from the dealer for not much more in price I believe. It has been a while so it is hard to remember how much cheaper the Bosch place was. One thing was, for the euro the dealer had the wrong part on file. Bosch got it easily by the numbers on the pump. If yours is a US model then the dealer should have no issue.
That car was an anomaly . The Dealer could not get a lot of stuff for it. It was an MB employee car. 1985 240d

Angry ! GAH !

O.K., I've been searching the BOSCH web site and see this quote " Our “Where to Service” shop locator helps you find the specialist near you"
Except there's NO SUCH BUTTON/HYPERLINK .

All I can get is _one_ location in CANADA .

I know there's got to be Bosch Service / Parts Centers in Los Angeles, why is this impossible to find ?! .

This place or somewhere like it may be of help. When your time is valuable the dealer price doesn't seem so bad. You just have to go in. Are you friendly with one in your area. Also someone with EPC can help. I remember the copper washers are called gaskets. they cost like $1.50. maybe 3.00 from the dealer. Springs were like 14 or 18 each from Bosch. Delivery valves IDK. Shop around and you may be able to save. The sprigs could be pricey from MB I never checked.
I think all you will need are the gaskets and o rings. Is your pump leaking? You could replace the other parts, but used may be a better option if you believe something is wrong. I don't think the valves wear out. The springs are meant to last for a lifetime. Although replacing springs could be good measure. All us model 617 turbo IP, delivery valve, gaskets and seals should be identical.
Also for the rubber seals you can obtain viton rubber o-rings from a local hydraulic shop. They or you can match up the size with a caliper. remember ID and OD are important, or diameter and ring thickness. Viton is only good if you want to run biodiesel.

Delivery valve seals for my 617 were PN 1 410 105 020. I will qualify that with there possibly being different IP's with minute differences, you really should have the numbers off the side of your pump handy. A cellphone camera is the best way to get them, just stick the camera down there and snap a pic, then you can expand it or whatever as needed for viewing.

I THINK these are the guys I ordered mine from:

Welcome to DFISPDX.com 503-235-1947

They were more than willing to take my CC over the phone and ship to me.

If you look up "diesel service" in the phone book or Google for your area, I'm sure you'll get lots of options. I had pretty bad luck with the parts guys at my local MBZ dealer, but the Bosch service people were more than willing to help.

Because Pelican Parts doesn't want competition, so they ****** out the links.

I only order these from an MB dealership. Use a search engine to find one that sells parts online, or call the Classic Center in CA.
