Need a part number for om617 turbo air cleaner wingnut

Don't see it listed on epc

Wingnut that secures the lid on the air cleaner

I think it's a metal wingnut

Mine was plastic and it broke

IIRC stock is a 10mm hex nut with a locking nylon insert.

Many substitute the metal wingnut found on the power steering reservoir.
(MB part number 0009900962).

If you use a wingnut or a regular nut, also use a wave washer to prevent the nut from backing out.
(Just like the setup used to secure the air cleaner housing to the rubber buffers on the air cleaner bracket).

On the power steering reservoir you don't need the wave washer because the spring under the reservoir lid keeps tension on the wingnut (like a wave washer does).

Interesting. My '81 300SD came with just a regular nut on the air cleaner. Not a wingnut.

same nut size as used on the three mounting points?

I may have extras.

what was the factory setup? regular nut or wingnut?

epc doesn't even list it under the air cleaner section

Yes, same size nut as used on the mounting points.

Factory setup was a regular nut.

Yes, EPC is lacking in some areas...like the air cleaner lid attachment nut, the air cleaner lid, and the grommet in the air cleaner lid for the crankcase oil vapor return line.
