OM602 Fan & Clutch Options
Shopping for the newer plastic fan and clutch assembly. Don't want to pay through the nose for OE. Would prefer the Sachs OEM assembly, but can't find it anywhere. Meyle is available from several vendors (including Pelican) for <$200, but I'm a little wary of an aftermarket supplier. Anyone have any experience with a Meyle fan clutch?
EDIT: Just wanted to add the car currently has an OE 9-blade metal fan (p/n 116-205-24-06) and, I just noticed, a Behr clutch - so it looks like I'm already running aftermarket parts. Anyone know if Meyle>Behr, or vice-versa?

The last Meyle fan clutch I installed was made in China. I imagine they all are except for Genuine.

I have an ACM fan clutch for a '99 e300 & plastic clutch on my 92 300d for about $200. ACM is german quality, it's decent.

Tits 1 is correct
See GSXR's Tutorial on upgrade Alts (143 or 150 AMP)
Get an "Overrunning" or One Way Clutch INSTEAD of a Pulley on the Alternator Then get an ELECTRIC puller fan and save your: 1. Belt Tensioner system. 2. Harmonic Balancer. 3.Throw Away or sell the stupid Viscous Fan Clutch System

Ended up finding a Sachs clutch for the OM606 on sale, as well as a Genuine MB 11-blade plastic fan plus the 3 bolts needed to put the whole thing together, for only about $11 more than the Meyle 9-blade assembly.

I used something along these lines.
I drilled 2 holes, one to let the air out the other to inject the new. You do not fill it full just use 2 to 3 ounces. I sealed the hole with a stainless steel screw which interesting enough sheared off as I was torquing it done. Drill holes close to the center. Still working well after 2 years when I sold the car. I was going to use a silicone blob to seal the screws but they never leaked. Get it at a local model car shop.

No but as I recall it was obvious, there could have been some vanes, drill between them. Do not completely fill.
