Air / Whistling Sound

Hi All,

On my 1984 300D, I now have a whistling noise sometimes when I am driving. It does not occur at idle. I think it is the turbo. It will go away if I brake or accelerate enough to get the transmission to upshift. It is annoying. The car otherwise drives and runs fine.

My EGR is blocked and removed and my ARV has been blocked with a golf tee. I have removed all of the vacuum lines that do not need to be in the car. I have been running this setup for a few years.

What should I be looking for? I was thinking of checking all of the lines to see they are holding vacuum, but I'm not sure exactly what else to look for.

Thanks,

Dkr.

Probably the leaking at the rubber seals on the black plastic "U" duct connecting the air cleaner housing to the turbo air inlet.

That could be... The connection is tight but I could see the rubber needing to be replaced. I'll see if the seals are even available new.

That was the fix! Thank you. I pulled mine off and one of the seals had partially fallen off the track. When I put it back, the noise goes away although I need to replace it because I don't think it will last long.
