Beru or Bosh Glow Plugs?
 

For my 2005 e320 cdi; any reason to use Beru over Bosh besides price?

there is no reason .. just use bosch glow plugs they are great and can last a very long time
I always prefere bosch for every thing in my car because its quality
also i thinkmost parts of your car are made by bosch

dorie Bosch are the best ,.But you need to make sure they are genuine Bosch plugs .I have had a set of HT leads that turned out to be fake .I contacted Bosch and i was told that a lot of items made in china are finding their way in to the parts chain . And that Bosch items will have a genuine hologram on the product lables, and boxes. I do like Beru electrical parts and would take them both if need be ...You can google the genuine bosch sales logo .

Lots of discussion on this...do a search. For your car, you need to use the 5v Beru. The Bosch is the wrong plug....it's not 5v.

The Bosch Glow Plugs need to be made in Europe (the ones I have from mine are made in france). Indian made Bosch Glow Plugs have not made a name for themselves and some sellers like on eBay sell them.

For more the several years Bosch Glow Plugs have holigraphic stickers on the boxes. The holigraphic sticker can be faked also but it is less likely as Glow Plugs are selling cost items.

If Beru Glow Plugs have a sight quailty edbe on the Boch ones the more difficulty in finding a source that sells them for a decent offsets that.

I'd buy the bosch no matter where they're made.

I purchased a glow plug from a dealer and it was made by Beru with star on it.

In past, when vehicles were first introduced, there was some confusion on the part number and the wrong Bosch was installed. There is a service bulletin that allowed dealers to replace the plugs if this happened.

I am not sure Bosch makes a 5v plug for the OM648 engine.

Yes, as Shertex says this subject has been discussed and discussed. The US E320 CDI is equipped with a Beru system that uses 5V plugs.
Mercedes service/repair documentation is very clear on this, that is why I said to use Beru 5V plugs only!

What's best for a W123 240D or W126 300SDL, is not always best for a W211 E320 CDI. If you're not using MB genuine parts,
you need to make sure you're buying the correct OEM part(s) for your car.

Apparently Bosch does not offer the correct plug for that car then?

Only Bosch plug that anyone has been able to find that fits is 11.5v.

From what I understand, the Bosch plugs don't throw any codes or anything...but neither do they work, or at least not as well. But the owner thinks they're working fine.

Had some Bosch plugs made in India, and they weren't very good at all. So, I wouldn't automatically say Bosch is better than Beru, in fact I'd really not make any preference between those two brands at all.

My mechanic says use what came out - assuming they are correct to begin with- and all 6 should be the same otherwise slight voltage differences could trigger the check engine light. I've got 6 Beru coming today.

Torque - is 10Nm+/- correct?

Torque sounds right. Beru I think is the better choice for this application.

The glow plugs torque spec is 19Nm for the OM648.
