08 Dodge quad cab 2500 cummins and manual transmission

Just got back yesterday from Collierville Tn (east of Memphis) after trading in my 03 Dodge for it.

Its a load quieter than the old truck and has more torque but seems to use a bit more fuel.

It has the G56 6 speed manual transmission built by MB.

Congrats on the new truck! It'll be interesting to see how it works out over time. I LOVE my ISB/Dodge and know little about the newer engines. Manual trans/auto trans - each has + and - and after a very expensive rebuild/modification my Chrysler-based auto is doing great. I don't have any experience with the Mercedes trans but I'll bet it shifts like butter.

It shifts well and with shorter throws than the old 5600. I'm doing research now to determine what lube to use, install tranny coolers, and a tranny temp gauge.

The Mrs thinks I should put on a flame job. (Gotta love that gal!)

Meanwhile I'm over in east TN collecting 6BT equipped trucks haha.

I've got my 97, which is my daily driver for the business, and will be getting some trans upgrades and torque converter after the season is over.

also just picked up a 96 cummins and a 2001 v8 gas that're going to swap bodies once things slow down as well.

You're gonna love the truck, The newer ones are much smoother, and amazingly comfortable, I just love my simple old engines.

I think a quiet, understated flame job is always in order.

But I'm SO fond of my green/black paint scheme. Mutt and Truck both run that.

I have a client that sells performance parts for trucks. Hit me up if you need injectors, fuel systems, chips etc. He has given some of my referrals pretty good deals. I'm staying with my 00 quad cab but am not looking forward to axle seals.

I might do something to increase economy. It's got more power than I need and the problem as I understand it now is not frying the clutch on the sticks.

Maxtorq has a shop in CO and runs a forum on dieselram. Max us one of the better mechanics and I run unusual stuff by him. There is not much traffic there but Max has found stuff that others couldn't figure out.

There is a clutch builder in Nashville that is supposed to be good and much less expensive than Southbend. TN Clutch and supply.

Cumminsforum etal have info too. Mike at mopar1973man.com has some info. I think he's also a tester for the Adrenalin. I'm not sure whether that's for your truck. I forgot who was writing the code but it supposedly has mileage settings. Install is easier than a juice and has more toys.

My tuner is from Edge as it was the only one available for my engine when I was shopping. Works OK. I keep it on "towing" and it does really well on FE - about 24 highway unloaded, 18 with the trailer and Mutt. I'm good with that! Every once in a while I have to do a reset and it defaults to the stock tune and MAN does it feel like a stone that way. An incentive to reset the Edge quickly! Very little black smoke on that setting.

I looked at a system to put in the bed which effectively raises the floor up about a foot and provides two large drawers under it which can be locked but are not completely weather proof. Its called "decked". Anybody have any experience with it?

Check the proper forums for your truck. It hasn't been discussed on the 24V Forum.

Re Clutch: I think user Clunk has been running a clutch from TN clutch. I remember searching for them and their name is so generic that many irrelevant links show up.

I am a member of the dodge cummins forum but there are so many pop ups it takes forever to read any comments. So I don't go there much because of that. Any suggestions?

I don't get long load times when signed in. I'm running FireFox and better privacy addon but betterPrivacy is set to allow cookies on that site.
