Deactivating Seat Belt Chime Using Xentry

While I always were a seat belt, I don't like the nanny chime, especially when I'm just meandering around the neighborhood. So I want to deactivate it.

Here's the procedure, the second of which applies to my set-up.

How to disable seat belt warning with Star diganosis | MBStarTool.com Official Blog

However, when I select deactivate under Special Functions, nothing happens. I've tried it both with and without the engine running.

Am I missing something?

Elsewhere in the menu structure there is a long menu with several options having to do with the seat belt. But it's all in German so I'm not going to experiment.

Not so good. A seat belt helps even at low speed. If your car takes a T bone hit, the belt will keep you in the drivers seat rather than being thrown into the passenger seat. Your forward speed ( or no speed at all ) isn't relevant in this situation.

Even with a low speed frontal crash, the shoulder belt will keep you off the steering wheel / airbag and the lap belt tends to keep your knees from striking the under dash area.

Gee, I guess I shouldn't drive my 91 or my 98 then.
