Help, How to Use Lighter to Plug Vacuum

Hi,
I Totally Forgot how to do this. I have the hand held vacuum,
Do I press the black knob lighter in, or take it out...
HOW do I charge the Vacuum?. It has a knob thing at the end.
But I don't know if I put it in the Black knob, or the space I took
the knob out of....or if the car has to be running...
Help!
Thanks

I take it from what you say that you have an electric vacuum sweeper that operates from the cigarette lighter socket in your car.

The first thing you do is remove the cigarette lighter from its socket -- just pull the black knob. Then you plug the cord to your vacuum sweeper into the lighter socket. Next, you turn your ignition key to the position you would use to listen to the radio without running the motor. Then you use the switch on the vacuum to turn it on. You can then clean you car.

I take it, you have never used the lighter outlet for anything, chargers or such...

if you could post pictures of everything, it would make more sense to the other posters.

Very good reply!

One problem with attaching the common 12v plugs to the Benz cigar lighter sockets, is that they often don't match exactly, so pop out. That design of outlet seems to be designed to break the connection!

If plug won't stay in, you can try wrapping a narrow strip of tape around the plug to sort of jam it in IN position.

After you remove the lighter remember not to be sticking your finger into the receptacle! I know it maybe tempting but don't do it!
