Door Strikers
I just confirmed something I'd seen on an old post: The door strikers on W123s have been superceded by the ones for W126s per my local Benz dealer here in Tulsa.
Good news? That means the supply will still be good for a while. Bad news? They want $157 ea for them. OOOOOK, URO parts it is. 123 720 0104 = 126 720 0104 (Left) 123 720 0204 = 126 720 0204 (Right)

That's odd, the strikers listed on Pelican Parts are URO or Meyle and start at ~$13/each.

If the door strikers are missing, the doors won't latch.
Pretty practical I would say! BTW elcaBob, Ensure you grease those latches or the new striker plate won't last long.

I found the right hand side reproduction strikers work great, the left side required a metal file to get it to work properly on the drivers door. Of course there could be an issue with my car that caused that, it is pretty damn old.
$157? LOL, I'll use the file.

I had the rubber in the door strikers fall apart.
I replaced a front and rear with EURO door strikers. The fit was not the same as both of the originals had a shim under them. The EUROs work one of them rather stiffly without the shims. They have been on the car less then one year with no issues except the one door needs to be well slammed to make sure it shuts. I did not take the time to see if there was more adjustments I could do on it. In the pic the area outlined in red is extremely important because that is what pushes the latch up to latch the door.

Guys, any of the cars from early 80s through at least the last production date of 126 and perhaps other cars use the same plastic part. Push the entire plastic piece out, refresh the broken piece and reinstall. This means that the striker becomes neither side or front/rear specific.
I tried replacing the plastic with wood and never could get it to work. When at the yard with intent to remove striker: Spray all 4 with at least something better than WD. Clean the bolt head then using a 5mm SOCKET, pound the socket into the bolt head. Undo the bolts. I've taken to using a manual impact that I bought years ago from Sears when the only other impact used air and was expensive. You can drill the bolts out. Easy outs have worked for me too. The bolts aren't stuck hard, just hard enough to strip the heads.
