1978 300D Transmission
I've read the other threads on the trannies in the early 300Ds but I'm at a loss. I have a 722.118 transmission that shifts into 3rd only at extremely high RPMs. This is a nonvacuum transmission and I've adjusted the control pressure rod but it's of little use. I've gone to where the "Mechanical modulator" is supposed to be but the top nut seems connected to the entire plug and when I remove that I get covered in transmission fluid. Are the "vacuum dashpot" and the "mechanical modulator" the same thing? If not, then I believe I have the vacuum dashpot. If so, and I have no modulator, what are my options for fixing this?
