ziegler body mouldings. any experience?

was looking at upper body mouldings for my coupe. the ones that run along the doors and across the back of the trunk lid.

PP lists Ziegler as an aftermarket option that's way cheaper.

so I'm wondering, are these "lemforder quality" or "URO quality"...?

anybody try these? any idea where they are made?

thanks,

10-20 years ago Ziegler upper moldings were exact OE copies or even perhaps factory stuff.

Not sure about today. I'll be interested in how Ziegler are now. My confidence level is lower with the Trucktec name associated with Ziegler.

they are suspiciously cheap...

but for 15-20 bucks, I might take a chance and compare with OE.

once in a while, I'm pleasantly surprised by aftermarket parts.

As I suspected, only the fender moldings are available for the coupe. No door or trunk lid moldings are available from Ziegler ( at least they don't show and the pelican parts catalog).

anyone try or have an update on the ziegler since this was posted?

my rear right door trim piece is still in tact, i straightened it best i could, got new red clips and put it back on, but the 2nd to last clip did not push in, i pushed hard as i could to the point the door panel bent in and back out.

i notice there is a thin space along the piece. while the other pieces are all flush against the door panel. it hasn't happened yet but i imagine it will let gunk in and build up. pic attached.

worth getting a new piece to make it flush? just for functional reasons, aesthetically you wouldn't even notice the space.

I actually replaced all the pieces on my wagon that were available from our sponsor. They look good, except that they seem a little short (the gap between the ends seems to be more than factory). I was able to get all the pieces except the hatch and right rear quarter. Everything else for the sedan and wagon is available.

Yes. It is not noticeable by the average person, but I noticed it. I am okay with it though, especially for the price. I can live with saving $60 per piece!

I used these Zeigler body trims on my '82 240D once and was pleased with them, I should have replaced all of them but only did the one that got ruined .

Mercedes ways the wagon's hatch trim is the same as sedan so when my dumb assed Foster boys mangled it, I replaced it using the sedan part, it fit *perfectly* and hasn't some loose etc. yet .

That gap looks bad, yes it will collect dirt, leaf mulch, mud and salty road munge (guess how I learned this) .

Curious, is this a fairly new piece? Or is it old Ziegler stuff?
