Options for replacing NLA 124 800 02 75 HVAC Pod?

Hi Guys,

So the 91 300D is getting the HVAC completely rebuilt. The original 124 800 02 75 leg room flap is no longer available.

When I started gathering parts for this project (almost two years ago) I reached out to George Murphy of Performance Analysis. He indicated that the 124 800 01 75 is the same pod as the 02 75 just with a different length rod. Swap the rods and you're all set.

I am just now noticing that the two pods have other differences too. For one, the physical mounting style is much different. One mounts using the twist-lock method like other pods while the other appears to "plug in"

I was wondering if you guys had any thoughts on this issue.

I emailed the classic center. They confirmed its NLA and suggested looking at the other pods in the car and maybe doing something with them, like removing a diaphragm from one and putting it in the -02-75.

I suggested a 000-800-67-75 pod from a W126 which is single action and looked roughly the same size. Jon at the classic center took one apart for me and measured it. He believes it will work for the -02-75.

Here are some measurements of the -02-75 pod.

I ended up taking apart a mistakenly ordered 124 800 29 75 pod and scavenging its first stage diaphragm and putting it in the -02-75 pod.

Worked like a charm!

Not sure if it applies to a 124 but I scavenged diaphragms from the yard for my 85SD. The double pods have 1 diaphragm that is different from the other in the same pod but I was able to make a working set with a few pods from the yard. Usually only 1 of 2 diaphragms in a double was broken. The other diaphragm interchanges with the single pod.

George used to sell replacement diaphragms for the 123 chassis--does he not offer them for the 124? I assume he would have offered them up when you talked to him. Out of curiosity, do you know if he still offers them for the 123?
