engine oil journal tap on BlueTec engine
Re: 2016 Sprinter 3500, cab-chassis w/3.0L V6 BlueTec engine
I plan to fit a two or three quart oil accumulator (Accusump or Moroso) to the 2016 OM642 BlueTec engine, therefore, I have the following questions. Is there a pressurized side engine oil journal tap on the 2016 OM642 engine? Several on-line sources show pictures of a plugged-off factory oil test port near the engine rear, under one of the exhaust headers on the older OM642 engines. I have not found one on this engine. Also, is there an adapter plate made that fits between the engine oil filter housing and engine that may be used for an accumulator connection point? This is the most common way of fitting oil accumulators, oil coolers etc to an engine, yet I have found none made for this engine. Does anyone have knowledge of the oil test port or adapter plate source that they would share? |

I was thinking of the turbo supply line but the path of least resistance might be through the turbo to the sump. Can you tee into the oil pressure sensor?
