1987 190D - driver seat options

Hey guys. Been fiddling with electrical stuff, slowly getting things sorted out in the car. One of the big annoyances I have is the driver's seat. The previous owner was rather generously proportioned, so several of the springs in the driver's seat are broken. The pad doesn't sit properly in the seat (compared to the passenger seat) either, but I haven't taken the whole seat out yet, as I'd like to continue driving the car while waiting on my new seat/seat parts to arrive.

What are my options for replacing the lower spring bit in my 190D?

Swap in the base cushion from the passenger seat of a donor car. I did that and it works out very well.

Problem is finding a donor... I have to order basically all my parts from somewhere. No yards around here keep anything older than the 2000s.

Ebay or junkyard parts a base cushion and swap it in. I've used car-part.com with no troubles. The 201/124 seats come apart much more easy than the W123 seats, and ask for a passenger seat cushion, the driver's ones are generally beat. Over my sample of 3 W123's and 2 W201's I can say 5/5 were beat and broke. It's less graceful than the sag you can't get out of like an old volvo seat, it's like a broken spring poking you in the arse.

X2, this is the most economical route. The trick is to find a donor with same color interior. Look on the "For Sale" forum:

If you have an interior color common with the facelift models, I'd personally go with the seats from a facelifted car (89 and newer IIRC). Much more comfortable and seem to have less wear issues.
