Found an informative thread on how to use the official Mercedes EPC site
 

Searching for parts info has taken an excessive amount of time without having a subscription to Mercedes official EPC site. I get caught up in thinking it will just take a few more minutes to find the info I need. I probably would subscribe to the official forum if it was a one time charge for access.

Well I had to go back & edit out the link, it kept being replaced by asterisks. Guess I was doing something not allowed.

It can be found on the forum for 500e's. Top of page with ' 500e forum ' google search.

Found this site today, I was able to enter my vin # and appears to be good source for diagrams and parts info for my car. Also has many manufacturers to choose from.

Found a site that appears to have parts diagrams & part numbers to match VIN number entered. Appears to work for my 95 E300D.

I brought those sites up & they do provide useful information. What I really like about the 'partsouq' is it actually appears to match my vehicle and how it was built. Also the diagrams appear to be pretty complete & I believe will be useful during my research and wrenching.

Just go to eBay and search for Mercedes WIS EPC. Auctions for DVDs will come up. They might say 1986-201x, but that only applies to the WIS part. EPC works for all years. Cost under $20 and work perfectly including ability to enter your car's VIN. No need to renew each year!

I often find the online EPC sites difficult to navigate. Is using the CD set you linked to easier? Do you have a set? As a test, can you look up and post the p/n for the o-ring on the rack damper bolt for a 1985 300D and how long it takes you to find it?

I tried to do that on the online catalogs and was unable to find that o-ring so far.

From your link, I was able to find a Russian site with diagrams for the IP which lists the rack damper bolt p/n A0029978545 SEAL RING

Are you kidding? Is there an alternate p/n that's cheaper?

I feel your pain. Discount online OEM sellers want $222.00 for a transmission mount for my '91 300-SEL !

I can buy after-market for $10.64 - meaning I could replace this mount annually for 20 years.

Keeping these old cars running has become cost prohibitive.

but it's all in German.

That's OK - diagrams and numbers on diagrams are the same in either language. You can always flip over to another session and translate a word or two.

It took me just a few minutes to get to here. Does it show the o-ring? (seal) Is it part 259?

$25+ from many places! Must be made from something exotic ;) Don't worry - I just bought a set of 3 small rubber seals for my W210 oil cooler - C$58 at dealer, C$46.50 after discount.

By the way, because the DVDs install on your computer (in a virtual XP machine) access is a lot faster and more reliable than what I recall when I used Startek back when it was free. (No Java problems!)

For those of you with later cars that are supported on WIS, you may find this of some use if you get the DVDs:

You can first look up a part on EPC, using your VIN to make sure you get correct part, then without leaving EPC, click on the red hoist icon in upper right corner, and it will take you to WIS while remembering your VIN.

Not useful for 123s and other older cars, but found it helpful for my W210 (Which has been getting my full attention lately!)
