Fuel strainer filter for tank is one with the car

The line that goes to the tank strainer won't come out. It's welded itself tog ether. I soaked it for two days straight with vlaster. The strainer looks welded in there too.. heads up I dont mean literally welded but seized together. Any ideas? Something I'm missing? I have the socket dor it but can't fet the line off. Or find a part number for that line if I cut it off.

Sometimes the key is a sudden application of force. Try getting a crow's foot on the fuel line hex and giving it a quick pop instead of just continuously yanking on it. More often than not, the quick pop will break it loose.

Counterintuitive, but sometimes applying a little tightening effort will break the corrosion on a stubborn fitting.

Lkewise, a sharp axial rap or two to the tool with a hammer, before or while turning the tool on the fitting,
can assist in freeing a stubborn fitting...same principle as an impact screwdriver and impact wrench.

BT, DT :

I used a 6 point 46MM 3/4" drive socket and a flex handle (misnomer : breaker bar) and a 3' cheater pipe on the flex handle, lay on my back and put both feet against the rear wheel, gave it all I had before it finally popped loose, nothing was damaged (I nearly hit my self in the face with the cheater pipe) ~ I was expecting to find rusty/damaged/ruined threads in the tank of the strainer but it was simply too doggone tight .

Keep at it but work safely .

Used tanks are cheap from junkyard or enthusiasts as they never wear/rust out so don't sweat it if it dies in the removal .

If your car is a 240D, replace the 18 gallon tank with the 20 gallon one from a 300D and rejoice .
