1973 220D Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement
How the hell do I get that thing on there? I cut the old one off to replace the alternator belt (which was a pain with the A/C compressor in the way but I got it on there eventually) and now I can't get the new one on. I loosened the bolts in the slots on the pump and the one on the back, it swings as far as the little slots on it go but that isn't quite enough. What am I missing?

Alright, I managed to get it on there and I can't find any other info on the proper way to do it so here's how I managed for anyone else attempting this job:
Step 1: Just cut the damn thing off to make it easier on yourself (be extremely careful not to cut the oil cooler line) Step 2: Loosen the two 17mm bolts on the front of the bracket and the 14mm (or was it 13?) on the back of it. The pump should now be loose enough to wiggle around Step 3: Put the belt on. It won't go on all the way like this so get it on as much as you can then nudge the starter. Now for the harder part: You'll need two flat screwdrivers, one small and one large. Crawl under the car a bit then take the large one and nudge the pump far enough over to get the small one in the little slot. Wiggle stuff around until the belt is fairly tight, then tighten the bolt on the back, remove the little screwdriver and tighten the other two bolts.
