Scored a real high mileage om606

This weekend came across a car I was going to buy a couple months ago I made a post about. 99 e300 with 530k. Black over gray MB tex. The guy who bought it for his son thought it was a good deal for $800 and I remember driving it and it needed some suspension work like ball joints and bushings etc and diff was whiny. Guy apparently didn't think much of it and his son kept driving it after they did the suspension work. Rear locked up at like 10mph.

Got it for $350 or it was going to the junkyard.

Now I just need to put in the spare rear and I got myself another driver.

Wow, an e300 for $350, where are you sourcing the rear end from? Junkyard?

Don't forget to grease the screw and threads on the spring compressor.

Parts car outback my old shop I worked at. It was the cheapest I got so far. Funny thing is I drove it up on the trailer and drove it around my neighborhood at my house and it didn't lock up. I guess the bearing isn't completely wasted yet.

Just some off topic banter, you seem very fond of the Mercedes E classes, what makes you choose those over A W126 or W140 or W210?

Hey what gave ya the first clue I'm fond of the e classes.

In all seriousness, I've only owned one w126 a 84 380se which I enjoyed, but if I am going to buy an s class I'll buy a w116 or w220. I just havent come across a clean w126 diesel in a long time or w140. Heads up for future reference, the w210 is the e class.

Got the diff in and drove it 80 mph up and down 95. Running like a charm! Love this car. Looks good and runs good at 530k. Someone asked me about the car and I told them the mileage and their jaw dropped and asked me how it stills runs. I told them "it's a diesel Benz"

Not to mention I have 4 folders full of receipts for this car from new. I might scan them for you guys.

Lol not till they're bad. I got them down pat though. I taught packerfan my ways with the 606 glow plugs.

Just put in some new lifters. It was ticking. The cam is in great shape. It has some air in the clear fuel line near the filter and the idle sputters and falls on its face at idle. Going to put all new lines on and reseal it today.

Next up is some new wheels off am e430 sport model. They're 17 low profiles that will look great.
