2012 S350

Is this a good buy at $18K?

When the ad expires here is the car sold locally...

How many miles on it? Ad does not say. Car looks nice, at least in those small low-res photos. Not sure I'd buy from one of these "no job no credit" dealers, they have a reputation for selling bad cars.

That's a fair price for an S350. Most people are selling them at about 20k+, however there is one in VA going for 13k from a private seller. If you show up there and they do not have the service records...then I would be very suspicious of the car. Honestly you can do the usual and take it to a shop for a pre purchase inspection....if she was well taken care of you're good to go.

The dealer would put me off. That S class looks like a high maintenance car. Kindof like a high maintenance girlfriend.

You can bet it has high mileage, if it did not they would be bragging about it in the ad. Late model cars like that with high mileage usually end up at auction when they are traded in, a respected dealer does not want to risk tarnishing their reputation with it.

I can see the odometer in the CL ad but it is just enough out of focus that I can’t read it.

I would not trust a CL ad like that...3rd party car lots are notorious for all kinds of mischief.

Here is a link to a CPO 2012 E350 BT with 74k miles in Mt Pleasant (Charleston) SC. Being this is a legit MB dealer there are standards and there is a recourse if it’s a lemon.

It’s been up there a few weeks so they may be willing to deal. Shows 18k in the ad but I suspect they would move a little off that price or get them to throw in extended warranty since I think 2012 will not have much in the way left of the CPO eligible warranty.

If I didn’t have 2 kids in college right now I would be all over this...2012 *should* be past the oil cooler seal debacle years for the OM642.

Rust generally not an issue with W211 or newer, they got the paint process figured out that was the death of the W210.

SC does not salt their roads in the winter, they use calcium chloride instead. However it is maybe once or twice a year they have an event where that’s necessary. Down at the coast it’s probably much less.

That's a whole lot of car for 18K!!

It seems like its priced lower than an equivalent e-class 2012? I wonder why? An S-class diesel with 400lb/ft of torque available would be the ultimate highway cruiser. Great deal for whoever picks it up.
