adj. valves, checked chain stretch

Checked and adjusted valves today even though it was not needed, the real reason was I wanted to check chain stretch. Last adjustment was 5500 miles ago. Two of the exhaust valves were 0.013" instead of 0.014", rest were all per spec. Per the pics, what is my chain stretch?

1-2˚ would be my best estimate. The width of the end of the pointer. Doesn't seem worth worrying about yet.

Anyone know where in the FSM is the chain stretch check procedure? I couldn't find it.
How many degrees apart are those marks on the harmonic balancer?

The dash marks are 5˚ apart, they're marked every 10˚. No answer on the FSM procedure for chain stretch, but you did it pretty much how I was taught and the common procedure on the forum. Align the cam until the timing marks are aligned, then measure degrees on the balancer. I'm sure there's some procedure out there to get really anal about things with a dial gauge, but meh...

I think the definitive ' stretch checking thread ' is in my signature...

The Factory Shop Manual specifically says NOT to use the cam marks to make that determination... they are used for ball park positioning of the cam when building the engine.... Check the thread on chain elongation in my signature for further references.
