I think it's worth $400 no more. Peugeot diesels are junk.

Just looking over pictures and statement from seller it shouldn't take over $3500 to bring it up to "good" condition and a value of $950

If you are interested see if you can find a Peugeot forum and see what it has to say.

Not a lot of Peugeots out here in S CA (and I doubt even world wide). That means parts are going to be hard to come by.

Like my Volvo Diesel I have seen one of them in the Junk Yard in 20+ years. While the Diesel parts are scarce it is still a Volvo 244 that you can at least get lots of chassis and body parts (like a windshield) I doubt if the Peugeot parts are as easily had.

One of the reasons parts for the 1980s Mercedes are fairly plentiful is that world wide they were Mercedes are popular. I don't think that is so with Peugeots.

My dad had perhaps that same model in diesel in the late 80s. We drove it to San Diego and back, this from OlyWA. Sweet running car. I wish I knew what the mileage was at the time. But yeah, parts now would be a real hassle. I never did catch the story about what happened to it.

He had been a diesel mechanic in his youth, I saw him putting in new injectors once. I'd ask him about it but he died in 2000.
