I purchased a dirt cheap e300 turbo diesel with a few missing parts about a week ago and was able to get it running and driving.

I gained access to my GFs mom's property to store some vehicles at so looks like I'm buying another car.

It's 1999 e300 turbo diesel with 423k, has a dead misfire. Diagnosed as an injection pump issue. Clean body and paint, little rust and next to perfect leather interior. Saw it run, reaks of diesel fuel. Needs a compression test. My daily has 100 more thousand miles on it and runs perfect, so I doubt it's anything major related.

For $600 can't beat it!

I never even thought of 5 cars as a lot (Well the one diesel is my GFs) That also doesn't include my 69 AMX I just finished putting together and my Kawasaki Ninja and GSXR.

This a w210. I've made a lot of profit off of reselling those cars. If I fix it and decide to sell it down the road I'm sure I could get $1500 for it easily. I've yet to take a loss on a w210 diesel. The worst I've done is breaking even which is fine by me considering this is a hobby and not profit oriented or I'd flip new Benzes.

My friend has a gasser w210 bought new, garage kept, serviced by old factory trained mechanic, only 50,000 mi and immaculate. People (including me) are lined up hoping he buys a new car and sells this one.

Here I am lined up to buy an old beater with hundreds of thousands of miles hoping to bring it back to its glory days.

A car without problems and low miles brings me barely any interest. I've put countless hours into rust repair, paint, dent repair, mechanical repairs into w210s diesels and mercedes in general. I get bored when they work right.

@jake, some buy stuff to work on them, others buy stuff to drive and work on them as necessary. This car looks new. He makes sure all maintenance is done to the point of cleaning door jambs, waxing twice/yr and treating the leather to prevent drying. People either forget or never learn that leather isn't meant to survive intact with 0 maintenance.

I'll take pics to give you something to measure against if I'm ever fortunate to buy it.

I would love that to compare my DIY restoration projects. I'm thinking of starting a YouTube channel for all of these projects. Before, afters and updates. I've gotten pretty good at repairing these cars and making them look extremely presentable.

I do go sometimes to Philly, as my father and some friends live in Northeast/Bucks county.
really, it's great you bring them to live. I had Porsche 944, that I slow fix small thing and be able to make some money. But down in NJ there is guy gives second life to old 944's.

I don't have a shop, that is my future goal but I work at an MB dealer. It's a hobby I carry on that's setamantel to me from a family member who passed away and had a lot of Mercedes so I carry on the legend.

I can take a look at it sometime when you're in PA. I'm in Bristol actually.
