Help identifying this electric connector (190D)

So I just finished changing the pre-filter on my 87 190d and I noticed this connector was loose, without any place to connect it to. Does any one know where it is supposed to go? I thought maybe the ac compressor, but all wires going to it appear to be in place.

Looks like it goes to the AC compressor.

Thanks.
I took a second look, and indeed, there is a place for it on the top of the compressor.

I notice you have red fuel in the prefilter.

Not worried about a dip stop?

vstech: actually that's just regular S500 diesel. Around here, S500 must be red, so it is not confused with S10 diesel.
