Well like all talk ends up about motors around these parts I do have some intersting info about your repower on the boathouse .It is concerning the 617 repower and may not be the best choice after all by some opinions ,others say it will do just fine..https://www.boatdesign.net/threads/mercedes-300d-marine-conversion.13156/

Well - First of all, Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day. But I, too, have a kid who is 50 so it doesn't seem at all old to me.

I took today for myself, and I plan to play a bit.
I'm headed out soon to go work on my latest project...

A 30' houseboat that sank in my customers cove... I got it out of thewater' but have nowhere near a large enough trailer to safely move it from the launch parking lot...

I have been cleaning it and removing water and mud from the deck.

The tires were originally almost compressed from the weight, but since I pulled up one of the waterlogged deck boards and sucked out most of the water they are nearly round.
Next task is clearing out the layer of mud from the bottom... and a few more deck boards...
At 50 yrs old, you should get busy solving ^^^^ that one. You'll be a 65 y.o. in a flash. Being wealthy, sure beats being broke.....

Everyone I know that is old would gladly trade their money for heath and/or youth. The good news is that all of my peers are over 60 and can pedal a bicycle 50 mi any day of the week (and routinely do for the fun of it). Most are only working because they want to if at all. The only bad thing about being old is your 30 yr time horizon from yesterday is now down to 20 or 30 at most.

It's a little late for health or youth in their case. They should redirect their energies, if they're hung up on trading wealth for health and youth. Working is probably good for them.
