Well, so much for ordering meyle anymore

Ordered a center support for the 87 300D from eBay because of the free shipping. It was made by Meyle and opened it up just now and it says Made in China. So much for ordering from that brand. I'm still going to put it on, it seems like a quality rubber. But I just hate putting Chinese parts on a German car. I think next time I'll order it from Benz. I do get an employee discount of 30%, but it's still quite expensive.

Wow. I wonder if there is any sarcasm intended in that response.

X2. I think the coffee machine is made in China too. You need the diesel to be refined in Germany, drilled and extracted from Germany too?

Chinese parts have been known to be awful. I usually get my coffee and diesel refined straight from West Germany at the plants where the w124 was produced.

Meyle has been Made in China for a number of years now. And the quality is poor, as you might expect. I had a set of Meyle control arm bushings last barely 12k miles, where the originals lasted 120k. Never again.

A relative is in the parts business and says that the any level of desired quality can be had from China if willing to pay for it. Unfortunately many people are more concerned about price than quality.

I’ve noticed the Meyle stuff being pretty junky in recent years. Like URO.

Unfortunate but if it were not for China, none of us would be driving our favorite old cars at all.

I think meyle and Uro are actually the same part made by some Alibaba company that's cranking them out for pennies... but yea, it's much better than NLA.

I think the brand gives it the quality in that the materials used are up to their specification ,the other side is labor, the one that is critical in workmanship. If theyve done all the right steps in finding a middleman factory that does quality work its then up to you the consumer what you deem a value.Theyve saved money for their bottom line , if the product suffered from this move you need to let them know directly .Alot of jobs lost over China made products ,its only voices over money at this point.Outside looking in kind of look at it.

A brand means that the seller validates the part as "as good as if made by me". This began in old England (guys named "Smith") who became well-known makers and got more orders than they could fill. The brand name itself has value and is commonly bought and sold. The problem is when companies degrade the name by just rubber-stamping parts they don't supervise. Sounds like Meyle decided that brought more shareholder value. Don't get angry, it is just capitalism. Sites like this help people determine true values.
