 1985 Mercedes 300D - Throttle Linkage Issue 
		
		
		Hello again, 
	I've been looking at the docs online and can't find what I've connected incorrectly. The car does not shut down when I press "STOP" and only stutters. This happened after I disconnected it for a valve adjustment. Any ideas? Something is connected wrong here. https://youtu.be/o8DL6XDhGJU Marco  |

		The orange circled area (in the yellow circle) of the long shaft needs to go through the nylon bushing at the red dot in front of the red arrow. 
	Then the STOP lever will pivot correctly.  |

		Nice looking engine, especially w/ no white aluminum oxide in Canada.  What stops the fuel flow is the pulling up on the rod which goes down to the injection pump.  I don't see the issue which Alec describes, though could be true.  The Rube Goldberg linkage on top of the valve cover is to transmit the cruise control input, EGR sensing and such.  It appears some designers had too many beers. 
	Did anyone remove the vacuum "shutdown valve" on the rear of the IP lately? If so, it might have been reinstalled incorrectly to push on the "more fuel" lever (is supposed to pull back on it). You might remove the locking bolt (10 mm socket?) on the rod adjustment from the firewall, since that might be preventing full travel. Likely it was removed when taking off the valve cover. I post a photo of my 1984 & 1985 CA linkages in case it helps. Good luck, sounds like an easy fix.  |

 I don't see how missing bushing #50 would affect the manual "stop" operation.  That is on the "pedal input rod" which is just along-for-the-ride when you push the stop lever.  That lever pivots on the bushing in part #21, and the IP input rod comes directly off the stop lever.  You can quickly pop off all those extraneous linkages w/ a screwdriver to insure that none are preventing full rotation of the stop lever.  Also, unbolt the pedal input rod, as I suggested in post 6.  If you still can't stop the engine, something else is wrong.  You never answered my question if you fussed with the IP shutdown valve.
