95 E300D summary of my vacuum shut off valve replacement today

I finally gave up trying to loosen the inner small 10mm headed bolt on the shut off valve. Tried, but couldn't find a 'how to' for that or for removing the ADA ( I think it is called this ). As I understand the changes the amount of fuel injected based on the altitude detected by the ADA top cap. That removal was a trial and error endeavor.

Basically what I hoped to have found would have told me to do something like this:
0. Mark the top of the top hat with an arrow pointing to the front of the car, preferably straight ahead. This is used to make sure it is very close to original setting when it's put back together.
1. use a thin 24mm crow's foot or thin open end to hold the nut built into the bottom of the top hat. 15/16th is very close to 24mm. Just hold it firmly, no turning necessary.
2. Use a 27mm crow's foot for the bigger bottom nut and turn it clockwise, as you are looking at it, to loosen it from the tight fit to the top hat. I used a crescent, but wouldn't use that again. Too awkward and too little room to make it quick.
3. Turn the top hat counter clockwise, by hand, about four turns to remove it, while keeping the 27mm nut from turning.

That made removing the 10mm bolt easy by using a T30 hex security bit.

Removing the old shut off was easy. Took a while to install the new one until I realized that the arm inside the pump was slotted all the way to it's end. I used a needle nose to counter clockwise twist the small rod on the outside of the pump, this raised the inside slot up high enough that I was able to slip the pin into the end of it. On mine the pin faces towards the engine.

Pictures show the bottom of the ADA and the 27mm nut on top of the injection pump, this nut turns freely but stays on the pump, you shouldn't try to remove it.

Reinstalling the ADA was easy. Cleaned ADA threads and added blue medium Loctite. Old assembly had the yellow threadlocker. Held the bottom nut and turned the ADA about 4 turns until it started to tighten. Twisted the ADA to position the arrow back to the front of the car and finished snugging up the bottom nut while holding the ADA in position.
Don't over tighten, let the loctite do it's job after snugging it up.
I'll probably scribe the metal top hat to have a future reference for positioning.

In thinking about it, I don't think it matters how the top hat is positioned (marking position probably doesn't matter), the internal mechanism appears to just move up and down based on altitude.
