Wiper Motor replacement?
Hey All,
The driver's side wiper won't move. I can hear the motor working but it won't get it to go. We've had a lot of snow and I wouldn't be surprised if the wipers got turned on while they were buried in snow and overworked them? Anyways, I'm assuming that I need to replace the motor, but wondering if maybe there is something similar that could happen to get it going again. Thanks for any thoughts.... |

nah if they were burned up they wouldn't work. take the cover and grease it up. make sure it's not frozen on there depending on how cold it is.

It would probably be a good thing to mention whether this is a ford or chevy.
The motor is usually bolted to the linkage. If there are two wipers, each of those is bolted to the linkage. When you hear the motor running, but something isn't happening, tightening the nuts is usually all you need to do. Sometimes the linkage itself is broken, but hopefully that's not the case here. |

The pivot that the wiper arm attaches to may be seized or linkage behind the cowl is disconnected/broke. Turn the wipers off remove the arm and put very thin oil on the pivot and let it soak. Reinstall and try wipers. If no success remove pivot and free it up.

Thought more about this...Mxfrank's theory about a loose nut where the base of the wiper attaches to the pivot is the most likely solution. Remove the cover at the base of the arm and check the nut 13mm???
Please post the solution and good luck!!!
