Can anyone identify this?
Working on the '84 CD's electric antenna and spotted this above the inside the trunk above the left rear wheel. I haven't chased out the wires yet, and I was hoping one of the many experts on this forum could identify it.

I don’t know but that’s not a factory connector.

I haven't seen anything like that near the antenna in my 84 & 85 300D's.

I have the same connector on my 84 300CD.
Constant power on the middle red wire, other than that no idea what it's for.

I'd put a meter between - and S then turn the radio on. This might be for an optional antenna amp. ( as in for a short wave Euro radio ) I doubt it it is for a cell phone, anyone have an option list for that car?

Shouldn’t all cars have it then?

That should show up in wiring diagram. Could be something like rear window defogger, rear window wiper, trunk light, etc. I would have checked it, but presently don't have wiring diagrams with me.

The wires are thick, like for a power source. If you find some audio cables (usually red & wht pair w/ RCA connectors), it might be for a trunk-mounted CD changer which was a "must have" option, though I recall those started in the 1990's. We had one in our 2002 T&C dash, but I removed to give useful space.

+,-, S...Signal? I'm guessing that it's for an amplified (analog) cellphone antenna. Or maybe a CB radio. Too early for a CD player.

Maybe S = switched.
We can rule out new car dealer outfitted mobile phone and CD changer as they didn’t exist in 1984. Such things were retrofitted from the late-80s. Is there a coil antenna on the center top edge of the back window, or a cable leading to the same position on the inside? Time to pull the back seat and follow the wires.
