Injector hardline clamp substitute

Removed my lines recently and guess I didn't tighten one of the clamps well enough... I have half of it, the highway has the rest.

Anyone found a decent substitute? Preferably something I can pick up at home depot?

I'll bet that someone on the list has the parts you need in their pile of spares, but we need to know that car / engine you have. Recommend adding to your signature so it will be attached to every post you make, or add to your profile.

Excellent point. 616, 240d. In any event, I managed to find a pair from one of the mechanics in LA. I went to the dealership first, and found they are no longer available even from Germany.

Out of curiosity, will the plastic "clamshell" clips from the 60x series engines fit the older hard lines on the 61x engines? If so, it may be a decent substitute for someone with the same problem in the future. I don't own a 61x engine, so I can't measure the line size.

On the 616, there are 5 clamps -two up top (closer to the valve cover), three on the bottom (toward the injector pump). The one that worked free was the middle bottom one that held the first bundle (injector line 1,2) to the second bundle (injector line 3,4). I've noticed some wetness on the top of the IP under the fourth injector line which is a bit of a bummer. The fuel seems to dry very quickly so difficult to determine whether there's a small crack in the hardline that dribbles down, or whether I need a new crush washer within the IP.... haven't messed the IP ever so have very little understanding of it.

When I lost one I went to Summit and bought spark plus wire separators they fit good and your choice of colors and material and cheap. And they come in 2,3,4 configurations.

If you can't find the correct line clamps, which act as vibration dampeners. Rather than run without them and risk cracking the lines (which will be eventual), you can easily make your own. Get some steel plates approx 1/2" wide 1/8" thick (right angle brackets Home Depot). Also get some tough rubber strips 1/8" thick (from a car tire comes to mind) and some nuts and bolts. Drill some holes that match the spacing between the lines and you have your clamps. Be sure to locktite the threads so they do not vibrate loose.

Only reason I mentioned it is I have to do it myself, albeit for a Lister JP3 fitted to a 1934 Ruston & Hornsby 2ft gauge loco...
