Krowned in Ohio

Well, got my 81 240D krowned today at the first Krown licensee in the country! Guy named John about 30 miles north of Dayton in Versailles, OH. Did a real thorough job and explained everything to me too - he had a 74 gasser and thought it might’ve been a 190 but couldn’t recall. Boy does that stuff work it’s way into every nook and cranny of the vehicle. I know it won’t STOP rust, but I’m also 100% sure there is rust where nobody can see it and this stuff will dramatically slow that rust down versus just letting it sit unattended to for years on end. The spray really does make kind of a goop that gets everywhere and also a fine mist that coats just about everything in sight.

That is a beautiful exterior color! Is it more orange than red or is that just the photo?

It is definitely far more orange than red but it really does depend on the lighting - it’s 504 Englishcrot (“English Red”) after nearly 40 years. The Englishcrot and the Altrot are beautiful orangey reds with the Altrot being the more red and the Englishcrot being a pretty vibrant almost tangerine. I was considering three different cars when I bought last year - this one had the entire (trans, windows, climate control) manual and no sunroof setup I wanted (plus the color!!) but it had gross rust in the back corner and wheel well, the others had little/no rust but were off the lot normal earth tones with auto trans. This guy was a custom order from a doctor that lives a few miles from me, was sold to a family whose son went to school with our best local Benz indie, and the PO also owned a Cadillac dealership and had it serviced routinely at zero cost. Rust be damned - I’d rather drive this one till the rust takes it than the others, love that orange!!

I like that color too. Reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright's favorite color.
