Replacement vacuum line/connectors/etc

Most of the little rubber vacuum connectors like this on my 190d are brittle and probably leaky. This one in particular is definitely bad. I've done a bunch of searching but haven't found a clear answer. Can I just replace this with a small piece of either 3mm or 4mm (1/8" or 5/32") silicone hose? The places that sell these little rubber deals individually want several dollars per connector. If I could get a whole pile of them for 40 bucks or something I'd bite.

I just used rubber vacuum hose when I redid my SDL. Like you, I saw no point in shelling out big bucks for what's basically just a molded piece of rubber vacuum hose... The shaped fittings are different, but for the nipples and connectors, no reason why you can't use hose.

Awesome, good to know. Do you remember if you used 1/8 or 5/32? I'll buy both if I need to and just figure it out, but if I can keep from having extra hose laying around I won't use it'd be nice.

I usually use regular vacuum hose, and I keep a length in the trunk for emergencies. I also keep spare 3-way and 4-way connectors.

I'm not sure what you guys mean by "regular vacuum hose." When I search for it online I get all these different IDs of vacuum hose.

Most regular vacuum hose is 1/8" ID. It's stretchy enough that you can fit it on just about every vacuum fitting under the hood.

You'll also find that injector fuel return line material works very well and is a little stiffer resisting crimping for those bend applicaions

I just replaced most of my connectors and used the gates 1/8 vacuum hose that's sold at O'Reillys. It was around $1 a foot. 3 feet should be plenty to do just about every connector including the boost lines to the ALDA. You will probably still have a spare piece leftover.

The McMaster-Carr company has all sorts of great hoses, and then some!
