Decoding Star Finder Part Numbers

How do I decode part numbers in Star Finder? I've heard it's done via WIS, but after that I'm clueless.

I'm finding WIS to be not very intuitive, to put it mildly.

You're misunderstanding me. Star Finder has its own parts numbering system. If I do a google search for a standard MB parts number, say 6020940604 for my 91 300D oil filter, it does not pull up the Star Finder part number.

Star Finder is a part location utility not a part number look up utility. The EPC is part number utility.

Yes, I know. My question has to do with how to find a part in Star Finder if I know the number from the EPC.

Sorry not possible.
Star Finder is the Electrical part locator that uses the nomenclature from the electrical wiring manual. The ETM and SF uses component numbering system, not part number system. Therefor you could locate an oil pressure switch but not an oil filter and the component number would be used in SF not the part number from the EPC.

The EPC has a search function via the part number but the results can be vague.
